What is a pressure care cushion?
Pressure care cushions are designed to be placed on the seat of chairs for users at risk of developing pressure sores. When a person spends a long time in a seated position, the cushion provides pressure relief by alleviating the build-up of pressure on skin through specialist foams and/or alternating air cells. Using a similar technology to pressure care mattresses, these cushions can ensure pressure care is provided 24/7 to users who are at the greatest risk.
Three different types of pressure cushions
Static pressure cushions are comprised of one or multiple specialist foams that relieve pressure from the cushion user's skin. Lying surface castellations, gel sacks and internal air pockets provide additional pressure relief.
Alternating air cushions are made up of a row of air cells that alternate to relieve pressure from the user's skin. Powered by a pump unit, the air cells alternate in inflation every 10-30 minutes to redistribute pressure.
Hybrid pressure cushions are a combination of both air and foam technologies. They have a comfortable foam surface with alternating air cells below to provide a combination of alternating therapy and immersive pressure relief.
